A human being
should be able to
change a diaper,
plan an invasion,
butcher a hog,
conn a ship,
design a building,
write a sonnet,
build a wall,
set a bone,
comfort the dying,
take orders,
give orders,
cooperate,
act alone,
pitch manure,
solve equations,
analyze a new problem,
program a computer,
cook a tasty meal,
fight efficiently,
and die gallantly.

Specialization is for insects.

These are some of my favorites. Click around, you're sure to find a favorite of your own.

Newsfeeds demonstrate programming that allows the filtering of online news. Visit them to feel the flow of data that is passing around the Web.

It's your sanity and you can take care of it all by yourself.)

By now, everybody's heard of Napster and the Napster clones, software for sharing personal files over the internet. Wesley Felton has posted a comparison of distributed file sharing systems on Hack the Planet.

Freenet manages to "route around" some of the limitations of those programs by creating a distributed, autonomous network among anonymous users. The ultimate in free speech, it's promising, it's frightening, it's not going to go away and it's anarchy, online.

Some artists are embracing the internet and are being rewarded for their initiative. Stephen King has published The Plant and fully discloses the financial details in his FAQ. The artist formerly known as  and now Prince (again), has his own record store at New Power Generation . Read his take on Napster by clicking on "4 The Love of Music" at Freedom Newz. While you're there, scroll the left side frame and have a look at "What Should B Souled," for his next endeavor and "A Political Statement."
