Billy Bob Thornton and Mike Nichols have made Conan McCarthy's "All The Pretty Horses" into a movie, due out this Christmas. If they've done as well as Redford did with "A River Runs Through It" then they done good. You'll have had to read both books to enjoy the comparisons; they're both keepers.

Hmmmm, I just found out that there are Keepers and there are keepers. The former does not refer to a fish longer than the Game Warden's ruler.

Actis Technology is a company that was created to "profitize" software that has mapped the internet. They claim to be able to control a company's electronic interface to the world, and a lot more. Colin Rose, Actis' chief operating officer, said: "We can drop a file into the map, and within hours it will tell us where it was posted first, all the sites it was sent to and from what sites information has been downloaded." They've been approached by Singapore and China who are both interested in controlling the content their citizens access on the Web.

Not your-run-of-the-mill librarians, there's one that laughs, one with attitude and another that just "rules" the Web. On Sunday nights you can chat online with the one behind the reference desk at the Suffolk County Library in New York.
